Brussel Sprouts with a Spicy Mustard/Brown Sugar GIaze

I put way too much time into this very simple side; these brussel spouts are caramelized, sweet, with just a hint spice. They are also completely addictive.

Ingredients:

1 Tbs butter

1 Tbs olive oil

4 cups brussel sprouts, stems trimmed and cut in half

1 1/2 Tbs spicy brown mustard

3 Tbs brown sugar

2 Tbs apple cider vinegar 

1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce 

salt and pepper

 

Directions:

1) In a large skillet heat oil and melt butter. Add brussel sprouts to the pan. Saute', stirring frequently, until the sprouts are tender and caramelized. About 8 - 10 min.

2) While the spouts are cooking assemble the sauce. Combine the mustard, sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl and whisk until combined.

3) When the Brussel sprouts are tender, with the pan still on the heat; pour the sauce over the sprouts. Stirring while the sauce thickens and becomes sticky. When no excess sauce remains and sprouts are well coated... remove from heat, salt and pepper if needed and enjoy.
